The Somerset Beekeepers Association is keen to hear from
you. E-mail John Jones at

Traffic Calming Measures
In view of the fact that the
Traffic and Roads Division of Somerset CC cannot maintain,
repair or replace the plant pots on the traffic calming pinch
points, the Council has decided to ask that they be removed
since several have become unsightly and "unloved".
New RUH park & ride service
A new half hourly bus service is
now running from the Odd Down Park & Ride site to the RUH.
Parking there is free and the service operates Monday to Friday
between 7am and 7pm departing on
the hour and half hour (last bus 6.30pm). The journey takes
about 20 minutes and drops off at the main entrance to the
hospital. A return ticket is £1.60 and therefore rather less
the RUH parking charge of £2! All
buses are "low floor" and are fully accessible by wheelchair
users.
Community Speed Watch
The Community Speed
Watch has now been operating in the village for several months and
over one thousand letters have been sent by the Police to offending
motorists of the participating Mendip villages.
The Parish Council is
purchasing its own camera so allowing better use of it at times
selected by the Council rather than just times when the shared
camera is available to Stratton.
It would be used even
more frequently if more volunteers would come forward and be trained
in the camera's use.
Bobby Van - New
Police Initiative
The purpose of the
scheme is to provide free home security improvements. It was
launched in 2000 to help reduce the fear of crime by providing
practical advice and support for those within the community who are
vulnerable or have been a victim of crime. The service is
entirely free to victims.
Bobby Vans are operated
by trained carpenters/locksmiths equipped with the necessary tools
who will offer advice and where appropriate fit extra security
measures. To take advantage of this service telephone Steve Crisp on
01935 402231 or
Mobile
07717 700530.
Further details are at www.avonandsomerset.police.uk

Recycling
Roadside collections are
now routinely made every other Wednesday in accordance with Mendip
District Council Instructions. All residents are urged to
make that small extra effort and thought so as to contribute to
recycling.
“The Future of
Furniture”
A new scheme to recycle
unwanted furniture to people who need but cannot afford new
furniture has been launched under the above banner. They will
call by appointment to collect it free of charge and pass it all to
appropriate people. Call Furniequip in Frome on 01373 467320
