I have lived in the village since 1943 and I farm the land around the parish I joined the Parish Council in 1967 and have been chairman for a number of years. I enjoy my work with the council, which I find rewarding, as we can conduct our business without any political interferance. My interests include my business interests, walking and my involvement with the local Rotary club.

"I was born in Stratton, educated at St Benedict's RC School (when it was in the village), then attended a small boarding school near Nottingham for 4/5 years. I worked at Downside Abbey in the Accounts Office for 5 years then joined the Somerset Police Force for 2 years. I was then asked to join the growing family business which I did, became married and remained in an expanding situation until my retirement in 2002. I have lived in Stratton all my life where I and my wife brought up 3 children. I have served on the Parish Council for over 40 years.

"I was born in Radstock, educated at Writhlington Secondary School (as it was known then). I've been married twice, four children by a previous marriage, eleven grandchildren. I'm semi-retired, which gives me time to spend with the grandsons who have inherited their passion for football like me both playing and watching (needless to say my playing days are sadly over.) I've lived in Stratton for 40 years both in South Street and Fosse Road in our mobile home (with Norma.) My other interests are athletics in which I ran the 100yards, and threw the javelin (not at the same time!) My passion above all else as everyone who knows me is deep sea fishing. My pet hates is litter thrown in Laybys and other places which is ruining the countryside."

I have lived in the village for over forty years and before my retirement I spent thirty-seven years in the electricity supply industry, latterly as accounts liaison officer. I also served seventeen years as a special constable. At present I am a neighbourhood watch co-ordinator and am responsible for the Lengthsman Scheme in the village.

Linda Gittings
Councillor Linda Gittings
Lansdowne, Fosseway, Stratton on the Fosse, Radstock, BA3 4RF.

"I have lived in the village for 24 years. I am now retired but work occasionally as an examination invigilator at a Radstock Senior School. My main interest within the Parish Council is that of being the 'Parish Paths Liaison Officer', a posh name for footpaths co-ordinator. I also try to attend the Parish Forums meetings held at Mendip District Council Office as many of the subjects discussed do have an impact on rural lives. My hobbies include walking, puzzles (good time wasters) reading and campanology. My pets hate are housework and people who disrespect the countryside."

"Born in Bristol, I moved to Somerset in 1964 and Stratton on the Fosse in 1981. I served on Holcombe Parish Council for a number of years in the 70s and Stratton on the Fosse for a number in the 80s. I have just been co-opted back on to the current Council on my retirement. I went to school at Bristol Grammar School, my first job was as research physicist at Imperial Tobacco Co. before joining Downside School as Senior Technician. I moved into computers at the school in 1984 becoming firstly Head of IT and more recently Computer Systems Manager, responsible for some 250 computers. I retired earlier this year. My interests include footpaths and walking, wildlife and other photography, video, music, family history and various aspects of computing. I am webmaster for this web site."
